CHRIS BROWN: Shut-Out by BET?

A number of stars paid tribute to Michael Jackson at Sunday night's B-E-T Awards, but Chris Brown wasn't among them, and sources say Jay-Z is behind the snub. Sources say that Hova -- still livid over Brown's beating of Rihanna in February -- told B-E-T execs he and wife Beyonce would pull out of their own performances if Brown were allowed to participate. Neither reps for Brown nor the show returned our… Continue

MAXWELL: More Music on the Way

There's a lot more music coming from Maxwell. As we've reported, he's planning to make the July 7th release of Black Summer's Night the first part of a trilogy. Maxwell tells Black Enterprise, "After going through my life experience, I have material for the next 10 years... These records are split up... The first one is moodier, broodier. The second has a gospel, uplifting vibe. The third is all… Continue

JAY-Z: Indeed a Father?

The new issue of the U-K's Hello magazine re-visits claims that Jay-Z has son from a previous relationship. The seven-year-old is said to bear a strong resemblance to Hova and lives with his mother, model Shenelle Scott, in Trinidad. Though Jay's reps have denied the story, he's allegedly acknowledged his son behind closed doors. According to the magazine, he bought Scott a two-and-a-half-million-dollar home on the island after a paternity test proved… Continue

OBAMA'S SMOKE SIGNALS

President Obama hasn't quite kicked the habit. The Commander-in-Chief admitted yesterday that he's still struggling with kicking the smoking habit he picked up as a teenager. "I would say that I am 95-percent cured, but there are times where I mess up." Obama admitted that when he sneaks a smoke, it's not in front of his family. He said that the legislation that bans characters like Joe Camel or cigarette flavors that would appeal to youth is… Continue

Oh Hell Naw: NBA Players Broke 5 Years After Retirement!

The NBA Players’ Association met with the Toronto Raptors recently to discuss financial prudence among players and during that meeting cited a statistic that scared the heck out of most of the team. It was said that 60% of NBA players go broke after only 5 years of retirement! Are you kidding me?!? That statistic however is said to be an educated estimate and some players actually have a hard time believing it. The statistic could be used as a… Continue

The run up in gas prices, which has raised the average price of a gallon of gas 67-percent this year, could level off during the time it usually reaches for its… Continue
