The pressure of testifying in the court battle over Michael Jackson’s death drove Paris Jackson to attempt suicide, sources tell the New York Daily News.
The legend's teen daughter is due to take the stand by the end of the month in the wrongful-death lawsuit pitting the Jackson family against concert promoter AEG. But the attention and the millions of dollars on the line were too much for her, a source says. "She's just a wreck. She was getting more and more emotional about having to take the stand as the day gets closer. This is a plea for help. She is broken."
Meanwhile, more details about the incident are emerging. TMZ says Paris left a suicide note and then cut her arm with a meat cleaver. A source tells the gossip blog that she "called a suicide hotline and the person on the other end was alarmed enough to call 911." The insider adds that Paris had also taken a large number of Motrin pills. It's not known yet what she wrote in the letter.
Paris is said to be recovering and has been stabilized at the hospital. In a statement, Sandra Ribera, attorney for Paris's grandmother Katherine Jackson, says, "Paris is physically fine and getting appropriate medical attention. Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you."
