Whitney Houston’s Family Fears for Bobbi Kristina, Files "Protection" Petition

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is becoming a star in her own right, but according to a petition filed in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court Monday, the trustees of her late mother’s estate are trying to provide "security and protection" for the 19-year-old singer and actress by tightening her finances.

The trustees of Whitney's estate, according to the court filing obtained by ABCNews.com, want to change the distribution schedule of Brown’s inheritance payments. Their goal, according to the filing, is to protect Brown, a "highly visible target," from those "who would exert undue influence over her inheritance and/or seek to benefit from respondent’s resources and celebrity."

The five-page document does not go into details, but the trustees Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother; and Marion P. Houston, known as Pat, Whitney’s sister-in-law and business manager -- said that any proposed amendment would still allow Brown to live comfortably, according to  the court petition.

Brown’s lawyer did not immediately respond to ABCNews.com’s requests for comment.

Though there’s nothing in the court filing to indicate who the trustees think might be be exerting "undue influence,"  since Whitney Houston’s death, Brown has been hanging out with Nick Gordon, a family friend.  Gordon and Brown were involved in a car crash last month, and previously, he displayed what some might call questionable judgment when he tweeted a photo of himself driving while brandishing a handgun.

Gordon, Brown and the Houston family will appear together on an upcoming reality series for Lifetime, The Houstons: On Our Own.  The 14-episode show, set to premiere October 24, follows Brown, Gordon, Pat, brother Gary, and mother Cissy as they "try to pick up the pieces" in the wake of Whitney’s death.
