Tracy Morgan Passed Out On Stage

Tracy Morgan passed out cold on stage at the Emmy Awards last night … as part of a Twitter prank he crafted with host Jimmy Kimmel.

Attempting to exploit the power of social media, Kimmel suggested that viewers tweet “OMG Tracy Morgan just passed out on stage! Turn on ABC now!” to help boost ratings and play a prank on Twitter users who weren’t watching the broadcast.

After Morgan took his position on the stage, stars like Stephen Colbert and Joel McHale got out their phones to participate.

Tracy remained prostrate during the entire commercial break that followed. ”Nashville” stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, who appeared a bit confused by the gag, had to step over Morgan when they presented the next award.

The stunt worked. A boom of 25,000 tweets immediately followed after Kimmel made the request.

When Morgan was finally dragged off the stage, he wailed, “Tell Kerry Washington I’m all right!"
