Todd Bridges Talks Openly About His Troubled Past

Diff'rent Strokes star Todd Bridges has written a tell-all memoir called Killing Willis -- and it's pretty ugly.

Bridges, who played "Willis Jackson" on the classic sitcom, was promoting the book on the Today show yesterday. Here are some highlights:

  • Todd says his lowest point came in 1992 when he was pulled over by police while he had a gun, and contemplated allowing cops to kill him.

  • He claims he was molested by his publicist when he was 12. When he told his father, his dad took the publicist's side and remained friends with his own son's rapist.

  • He says his relationship with co-star Gary Coleman disintegrated because of Gary's dad. Todd says Gary's father didn't want his son to have non-white friends.

  • He claims he was introduced to drugs by co-star Dana Plato while they were working on Diff'rent Strokes. He also says he and Plato had a sexual relationship that lasted the entire run of the show.

  • After the cancellation of Diff'rent Strokes, he began selling drugs to support his cocaine habit.
  • He's been addicted to cocaine, crack and methamphetamines.

  • In 1989, he was arrested after a four-day cocaine binge, on suspicion of killing a drug dealer.
