DRAKE: Getting Young Money

Perhaps Drake was sending a message when he performed with Lil' Wayne, Baby and Young Money at the B-E-T Awards on Sunday. After weeks of speculation, Drake has announced he'll sign with Weezy's Young Money imprint. Drake tells M-T-V, "It's just a great day. It's something new, but it feels familiar." Drake's debut disc, Thank Me Later, will be distributed by Universal.

Drake says of being on an independent label, "Independent is a funny term. I can go independent, but you need distribution, period. You need somebody to distribute your record and you need that army that a label has to really push the record."

JAY-Z: Announces Deal With Sony

Jay-Z announced a distribution deal yesterday with Sony for his Roc Nation label. In a one-off agreement, Sony will put out his forthcoming The Blueprint Three disc. The rap mogul originally approached Def Jam with the same idea four years ago, but was shot down. He tells Billboard, "To them, it was just like, 'Are you crazy? No! Make a song!' To me it was like, 'I've sold companies for huge amounts of money. I'm an entrepreneur -- that's what I've been all my life.' I can't just sit here and make records and not do anything else. Why wouldn't you want to do this with me? I felt under-utilized."

The video for Jay-Z's new single, "Death of Auto-Tune," premiered on B-E-T last weekend immediately following the B-E-T Awards. The Blueprint Three is due September 11th.

JUELZ SANTANA: Jay-Z Pulled a "Sucka Move"

Juelz Sanata is calling Jay-Z's alleged Chris Brown snub at the B-E-T Awards on Sunday a "sucka move." Santana recently wrote on his Twitter page, "I just heard thru the grapevine that Jay-Z said he would not perform if Chris Brown was gonna perform -- sucker move. I woulda rather seen Chris Brown come out and do his tribute to [Michael Jackson]. It woulda been the first time he performed since [his arrest for felony assault on Rihanna]. I know he woulda killed it."

A rep for Brown says he was "never confirmed" to perform at the show.

PERRY PEEVED AT PRESS OVER JACKSON

Tyler Perry -- who directed Janet Jackson in 2007's Why Did I Get Married -- is miffed with the media circus surrounding the death of her brother Michael Jackson. Perry recently told an Atlanta radio station, "These are human beings... I wouldn't wish the level of fame he achieved on my worst enemy. I am so disgusted that, with every great thing that's being said about him, there's a million negative things being said. Why can't it just be about his legacy rather than the tarnished part of what he was acquitted for?"
