MURFREESBORO "HEAVY HANDED" POLICE OFFICER QUITS

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Murfreesboro police officer suspended after making an illegal arrest has resigned from the force.

Ray Roberts submitted his resignation following his 10-day suspension for exceeding his authority during a traffic stop.

Police officials said Roberts arrested Anthony Defeo for driving without a license, even though Defeo's car was inoperable and Roberts never actually saw him drive. CLICK HEREfor original story.

DeFeo was arrested again, this time legally by another officer for driving without a license.

I-440 CLOSED THIS WEEKEND

Eastbound through-traffic in Nashville won't be able to use the downtown bypass this weekend because of road construction.

Interstate 440 will be closed from I-40 to I-65 from 8 p.m Friday until about 6 a.m. Monday.

OFFICER ARRESTED FOR DUI RESIGNED

East Precinct Officer John Cumberland was decommissioned on Sept. 24, one day after he crashed his unmarked police vehicle into a ditch on Newsome Station Road while off duty.

Cumberland, 32, registered 0.12% on a breath alcohol test, police reported at the time. A person is considered legally drunk with a reading of 0.08%.

Police had been conducting an internal investigation of Cumberland. They say it ends with his resignation. He had been with the force five years.

Just When You Thought Things Were Getting Better...

A white Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have.

Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he asks everyone who calls about marriage if they are a mixed race couple. If they are, he does not marry them, he said.

Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

"There is a problem with both groups accepting a child from such a marriage," Bardwell said. "I think those children suffer and I won't help put them through it."

If he did an interracial marriage for one couple, he must do the same for all, he said.

"I try to treat everyone equally," he said.

KANYE WEST HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS

Kanye West just got hit with more fallout from the Taylor Swift-VMA incident.

Just a few months ago, Kanye managed to put together a syndicate of investors to back his very own clothing line, called Pastelle.

Well according to reports, since Kanye spazzed out at the VMAs, every financial backer for the new clothing line has pulled out of the deal, and now it was just announced that Kanye's new label has been scrapped.

But we're hearing that Kanye may have a chance to turn things around.

You see, Taylor Swift will be hosting Saturday Night Live this week, and a little birdie told us that producers are working to get Kanye West to make a special appearance on the show.

Hey, we've got an idea for the SNL sketch. How about they just let Taylor punch Ye in the face a few dozen times? Now that would be pure comedy.

LIL' WAYNE: Bump What Birdman Said

Depending on who you talk to, Lil' Wayne's next full-length disc could be a double album. Wayne's Young Money cohort Birdman recently told the Hip-Hop Chronicle, "We coming with Tha Carter Four and Rebirth -- it's gonna be a double disc -- and the Young Money album, all in the same day, December 15th." But Wayne tells the B-B-C's Tim Westwood, "They're pushing for that. I ain't trying to give it to them like that. It won't be given like that, trust me. Tha Carter Four deserves Tha Carter Four, and that's that." A rep for Young Money didn't return our calls for comment.

THE GOOD NEWS

The Clark Sisters will release their first holiday disc in 30 years this season. A Clark Family Christmas will be a reunion of sorts, featuring family members Twinkie, Karen, Dorinda and Jacky as well as Karen's talented children, Kierra Sheard and producer J. Drew Sheard. The disc is in stores now.

Marvin Sapp is slated to record Marvin Sapp Live -- the follow-up to his runaway hit Thirsty -- today. Fans around the world are invited to the concert as it is streamed live over the web at VerityRecords.com.

Mary Mary was the nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards this week. The sisterly duo joins Brandon Heath and Jeremy Camp as nominees for Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist. The American Music Awards emanate from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on November 22nd, airing live on A-B-C.

OBAMA MAKES FIRST PRESIDENTIAL NEW ORLEANS VISIT

President Obama visited New Orleans yesterday for the first time since he became president. During a speech at the University of New Orleans, he said, "I promise you this -- whether it's me coming down here or my cabinet or other members of my administration -- we will not forget about New Orleans. We are going to keep on working. . Together, we will rebuild this region, and we will build it stronger than before." Obama spent four hours touring the city, including the Lower Ninth Ward, which was devastated by the storm. During his appearance at the university, Obama was peppered with questions, not only about New Orleans' recovery, but also about a myriad of issues that plague the city. Among the biggest hits the President took was a question about federal money still being slow to trickle down to the city. Obama responded with a list of policies and programs he's enacted, but also pointed a finger at local and state officials for delaying some progress. He pledged to the crowd that "by the time my term is over, you are going to look back and say this was a responsive administration on housing, on health care" and other issues.

McCAIN'S LITTLE GIRL GETS IN TROUBLE FOR BIG CLEAVAGE PIC

Meghan McCain is sorry for posting a picture of her ample cleavage on Twitter. CLICK HERE

The former Republican presidential candidate's daughter came under fire after posting a photo of herself in a low-cut top. She writes, "So I took a fun picture not thinking anything about what I was wearing but apparently anything other than a pantsuit [and] I am a slut."

After some back and forth with her critics on Twitter, Meghan -- who writes a blog on The Daily Beast -- wrote, "I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my twitpic. I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry to those that are offended."

GATES' GIFT TO AFRICAN-AMERICAN MUSEUM

The Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History and Culture received another financial gift yesterday, this time from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Microsoft founder gave a generous ten-million dollars to the facility, which is slated to break ground on the National Mall in Washington D-C in 2012. The grant will support the capital campaign for design and construction of the new museum. Construction is estimated to total roughly 500-million dollars, with half the funds to be provided by Congress. The museum is scheduled to open in 2015.

In April, Boeing -- the aerospace and defense company -- donated five-million dollars to the museum.

Now I'm not a skinny girl and I'm nowhere as large as this sister. But enough is enough. I'm glad she has self esteem, but please add some self-respect to the things we put on our bodies. Just because it is big enough doesn't mean you should wear it. It's not cute, attractive, or respectable under any circumstances.

Mary Mary should get an award for a alsome album. I love it....

Also, What was she thinking. Thank is just tacky. Big girls (I am a size 16) classy is better than trashy. Don't buy it just because they make it in your size.
