Teen Speaks About Alleged Attack By Off-Duty Officer

A teenager, who said an off-duty Tennessee Highway Patrol officer attacked him, is speaking out. The trooper denied the charges, but the teenager said he was the victim of a sexual assault.

The 18-year-old asked that NewsChannel 5 hide his identity.

"I was walking out of the bathroom and he kind of leaned forward on me, when he leaned forward on me, I kind of leaned back - jerked him off of me. Then he just came back again, stuck his hands down my pants real quick and then just pulled them out," said the alleged victim.

He said it happened on the banks of Old Hickory Lake earlier this year.

"At first I was just shocked. I didn't know what to say. I walked away and then walk around for about 10 minutes, and then I went and told my dad," said the alleged victim.

Someone called police and they arrested David Trivett. At the time he was a 5-year veteran of the THP in Robertson County. After the arrest, Trivett left his job under fire.

Police have been investigating a shooting that happened in North Nashville early Thursday morning.

NORTH NASHVILLE SHOOTING

Police were called out around 3:30 a.m. to a home on Underwood Street. At the scene, police found a man in his 20s shot at least once in the lower extremity.

The victim told officers he'd been shot by two men at some other location, but that location wasn't disclosed.

Emergency officials transported the victim to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Documents show the president was born in Hawaii.

BLACK MEN WEIGH IN ON OBAMA'S FIRST YEAR

As the first year of President Obama's administration winds down, Essence conducted a poll of African-American men to assess how their lives have been affected. 73 percent of those surveyed believe that their quality of life hasn't changed, but 67 percent think the next generation of African-American boys will have a better chance at academic success. 88 percent feel that African-American men have not been portrayed more fairly in the media since the election, and just nine percent of think racial profiling of African-American men has decreased.
