The Demographics vs. The Psychographics of #tsuhomecoming and the Bull&H!T that goes on...

The reason for the violence that occurs each year at various events that target "Black People" is not because:

1)  The event attracts violence

2)  The attendees are violent

3)  The event itself is bad for the community

A lot of the violence has something to do with the demographics and psychographics of the event.  Case in point...the #tsuhomecoming tailgating event.

The Tailgate is always well attended with over 25,000 African Americans in attendance.  But you rarely hear of violence at the event.  Why?  It's because psychographically, the gangsters know they do not fit in at the tailgate event or the game...that's why they don't bother coming.

The place is filled with constant reminders of how much of a failure their lives are.  College Students and College Graduates celebrating collegiate life.  No room for Gangsters in that scenario.

Imagine "Day-Day" rolling up to the Tailgate in his box Chevy on 26 inch rims with a few of the homies.  Imagine how out of place he'd feel.  No one is there that he can relate to.  No one is impressed by his fake gangster presence.  When they would start walking around, they'd not see a reflection of themselves...No gold mouths, no white tees, nothing like that.  Just good decent people having a good decent time. The women would basically laugh them away with that weak gangster approach (boy you talking to a College Graduate/Grown Ass Woman).   Plus if they start the BS how would they escape.  Too packed to race outta there and there are police at event entrance and exit way.

So whenever I see the media trying to pigeonhole the violence on #tsuhomecoming, I always point to that example.  Demograhically...(Black, Ages 21-30, Males), you could TRY to piece together an understanding that TSU Homecoming is bad.  However, tailgate exposes the fallacy in that mindset.

It's not the age, race,  or gender makeup as much as it is the mindset, upbringing, and regular behavior of those people causing the violence.

TSU Homecoming is a Family Reunion.  It is a positive event with lots of GOOD coming from it.  It is unfortunate that a few people (with ZERO ties to the school) put a black-eye on this wonderful weekend of memories, nostalgia, football, and special events.

Neither TSU Homecoming or TN State University are responsible for this violence.  Unfortunately those people that terrorize our neighborhoods daily use TSU Homecoming weekend, Jazz & Blues Festival, and High School Sporting Events as a place to showcase their "gangster"!

We cannot give into them.  We have to force them out of business and shut them down!

It's amazing that these fools only behave like this at black events. This would never happen at a Vanderbilt home coming game, the CMA's, Bonaroo.....just our events! Why? You spread violence and ingnorance around the people that you should be bonding with. It doesn't matter who your intended target is, we all ge hurt in the process. People say they join gangs to be a part of a family. I don't know of any families that get together to commit crimes and shoot people. Family is about taking care of one another, helping each other in times of need. Loving and caring of the young, supporting each other. They do all of this without violence. Yes families have their share of fights, but the make up and get over it! Grown up people. Stop hurting everybody around you. Black people have come a long way. Stop doing dumb stuff to push us back.
