There were several shootings over the TSU Homecoming Weekend:
1) Right after the parade was over, 2 people were injured by a gangster's bullet near Wendy's on Jefferson Street.
2) There was a shooting near Rosa Parks Blvd. in the early evening on Saturday. Two men were injured and both were able to walk into Baptist Hospital for treatment.
3) A Shooting also erupted at the Limelight on Saturday after the night's festivities were over!
The crazy part is that none of the shooters OR the people that have been shot are current OR former students of TN State University. These gangsters wait for an event that brings out large numbers of African Americans, then come out to "take over" the event. Anyone that says anything "wrong" to them becomes their next victim. Also, these events are always well attended so the likelihood that they'll see a rival gang member is high. Once they see each other...Guns Come Out!
The sad part is that there is nothing you can do to prevent this violence other than shut down the gangsters. Lock their asses up. All of them! Why can't TSU have a fun, well attended event less the ignorance and violence from those that don't even attend the school or ever have. I mean let's be honest...you know these gangsters didn't finish the 8th grade, let alone attend a post secondary school.
I also look at any news organization (local or not) SIDEWAYS that somehow tries to attach this violence to TSU. We need to place the blame squarely where it belongs...on the gangsters that harass our community like a Middle English Bubonic Plague. Also, we need to look at the Police Prevention Plan. This is the 3rd time there has been a shooting near that Wendy's on Jefferson Street (Homecoming and Jazz Festival). They should blanket that area with police.
I hope all the victims make a healthy recovery.
However, these gangsters are destroying our community. They have got to be shut down and locked away. We can't become prisoners in our homes while the criminals run the streets!

that is so sad, we all want to have fun, and enjoy big events, but we don't know how to act when we have the events. Then, on another note we get mad when they show our faces on the news, or put blacks in the spotlight more than other races.......well take a good look at this, if this event would have been an event where we all got together, had a great time, then this is all news and media would have been able to say, but when I wake up at 6am and I am watching the news and I have to hear 6 people were shot over the TSU homecoming, I shake my head and say this is just what WE NEED more SPOTLIGHT!
Sad it is, and next year it will be TSU 100 years homecoming, and it will be during the warm month of Setember which will bring out more people. We, cannot allow the action of a few destroy this event thats meant to be fun for family, friends alike. Metro Police what is your plan of action for next year? Just like you go public about this homecoming event, but not Vanderbilt go public with what you intend to do to keep the event safe, Wendy stepped up to the plate but how did this happen? I saw where people knew this was going to happen. Wow, if I know your going to rob me, I will take measures to prevent that from happening.
And the sad part is, that the shooting near Wendy's was planned. My daddy told us about it Friday night, and he doesn't even hang out ANYWHERE. So, if he knew, then someone else had to know. Some people that I know tried to call and tell the police about it Friday night. All they got in response was "oh, we don't know anything about that".
Throw away the key!!!!! This is sick they try to enjoy their homecoming and here comes these Butt Heads and turn a good thing into this type of madness. This is why no one wants to be around our people, we have some real people that are not into this type of violance. Time to check the parents and see what the problems are in the homes.
