SYNPOSIUM VOICES FRUSTRATIONS WITH OBAMA
Thousands of African-Americans convened at Chicago State University over the weekend for the We Count symposium, organized by Tavis Smiley. Attendees complained that President Obama's has failed to develop programs targeting the hardest-hit communities. Minister Louis Farrakhan, whose Nation of Islam provided security, declared, "President Obama does not run this country -- he has been chosen to run white affairs." But April Lewis, a 30-year-old Chicago State student, called the symposium an "Obama-bashing event." Smiley hopes both sides on the "black agenda" debate can eventually come together
