STUDY: There Are Five Trillion Pieces of Plastic Floating in the Ocean

According to a new study, there are nearly 270,000 tons of plastic is floating in the world's oceans. That's enough to fill more than 38,500 garbage trucks.

And, researchers say the plastic is broken up into more than five trillion pieces.

This sounds bad, but the reality is things are probably even worse as the study only measured plastic floating at the surface. Plastic on the ocean floor wasn't included.
