STUDY: BOOZE GETS TO THE BRAIN IN SIX MINUTES

One drink can go to your head -- and researchers in Germany have proved it.

Researchers at the Heidelberg University Hospital hooked people up to brain monitors and had them guzzle hard liquor. After only six minutes, they found changes already taking place in the brain cells.

Researcher Armin Biller said pretty much all of the affected brain cells go back to normal after time.

"Our follow-ups on the next day showed that the shifts in brain metabolites after moderate consumption of alcohol by healthy persons are completely reversible," Biller explains. "However, we assume that the brain's ability to recover from the effect of alcohol decreases or is eliminated as the consumption of alcohol increases."
