A St. Louis City Hall meeting that was supposed to create some trust between the police and civilians ended abruptly when a brawl broke out.
The meeting was called to discuss a proposed bill that would create a civilian board to oversee police. It was supposed to be a step towards repairing the tense relationship between police and civilians which has been simmering since the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Instead, things spiraled out of control when police officers spoke in opposition of the bill and the police union's business manager got into a shouting match with a city council member.
When he was done speaking, he stepped into the aisle of the room and got into a shoving match with a woman. That brought an end to the meeting as things turned into a complete melee for 15 minutes. The meeting was adjourned and no arrests were made. (NY Daily News)
