Metro Nashville Police have responded to a shooting on the campus of Tennessee State University.
Police responded to the call which took place in the Boyd Hall parking lot located at 3500 John A. Merritt Blvd. Police say the victim was shot in the chest and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in serious condition. The victim is a former student, previously enrolled during the Spring semester, but was not currently a student according to police.
Campus police said during a press conference the victim was a resident at Boyd Hall. Boyd Hall is a residence hall located near the school's cafeteria.
Metro Police are reviewing surveillance video and say the shooter fled the scene after the shooting. There is no threat to students at this time.
