NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Pastor Breonus Mitchell mourns the loss of his wife after a battle with cancer, while at the same time, celebrating the decision she made for their then-unborn son.
Lakisha Mitchell, age 40, died Sunday morning at her home in Brentwood, in the arms her husband, a pastor at Greater Grace Temple Community Church.
When found out about her breast cancer diagnosis in late 2012, she had also learned she was pregnant with her second son, Brennon.
She made the difficult decision to ease up on the chemotherapy treatments for the baby's sake, even though she knew it would shorten her own lifespan.
After Brennon's birth, it became clear Lakisha's time was running short, so she recorded a lullaby for Brennon that his father plans on holding on to for years to come.
