The rumor mill was cranking at full speed over the weekend when word began spreading that Ne-Yo was planning to come out of the closet.

The story going around the net was that the R&B singer was inspired by the bravery of Caitlyn Jenner and hoped to have the “freedom” she has, by appearing on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club to finally come out to the world.

When Ne-Yo caught wind of the word on the street, he was quick to squash to the rumors. He tweeted a picture of a second erroneous headline posted to gossip site NewBuzzDaily about Britney Spears being found dead, writing, “So I guess #BritneySpears is actually dead then too? C’mon @newbuzzdaily seriously? People with too much time on their hands.”

He also responded to fans posting some questionable looking pictures of him, saying they’re simply "bad pics" that were taken when he listened to photographers when he shouldn’t have.

The singer-songwriter who is engaged to Crystal Renay had the last word, tweeting, “No disrespect to the gay community or to #CaitlynJenner by the way. Live your life and be proud. I’m just not gay. We still on this? #Sad”

Say What:

He’s right about one thing — people have way too much time on their hands.

Gossip sites will say anything to get some page views.

If you’re a celeb, people are gonna spread rumors about you — it comes with the territory.

He handled things well -- he addressed the rumor directly and kept it moving.

Some people say that he should not have addressed it because it draws more attention to the rumor. What do you think?
