BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A Metro police officer shot three robbery suspects early Thursday morning. According to police, the incident started around 1:50 a.m. downtown on 7th Avenue North and Church Street, where the suspects robbed three people. Police said the suspects then traveled to Brentwood around 2:30 a.m. to rob the Hyatt Place Hotel on Summit View Drive. Plain clothes Police Officer Justin Fox was in the lobby of the hotel for a separate investigation.
The three men entered the hotel with their guns out, ready to rob the hotel.
"Apparently these three were on a robbery spree," Metro Police Spokesperson Kristin Mumford told News 2. "Officer Fox was doing his ongoing investigation at the hotel when these three burst in, and again in defense of himself and others he did fire on all three suspects." The suspects then took off and traveled north on Interstate 65. Officers pulled them over at Wedgewood without incident. Two of the suspects were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The third suspect has non-life threatening injuries. Officer Justin Fox is not on administrative assignment, pending investigation. Fox has worked on the force for 12 years, since 1998.
