Meth Snickers Really Satisfies -- Airport Drug Agents, That Is

A former military policeman who had been discharged from the Navy on a drug charge years ago was arrested Friday in a massive meth smuggling bust at Los Angeles International Airport.

Rogelio Harris, 34, had his bags searched by customs agents who allegedly found a box containing 45 Snickers bars. The candy, however, was fake: blocks wrapped in cellophane and coated with a chocolate-like substance. And instead of being packed with peanuts, the "Snickers" bars were packed with meth.

Harris' scheme started unfurling quickly after that. When questioned by agents, he said he was traveling to Japan to visit his girlfriend, who lived in Hong Kong. When an investigator explained that Hong Kong and Japan were separate countries, Harris reportedly replied, "They are?"

The suspect is being held in L.A.’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Officials with Homeland Security Investigations said they believe the contraband would have sold for as much as $250,000 in Japan.
