MEN ARE AFRAID OF SMART WOMEN

It may be 2015 – but some things never change. According to a new study, guys are intimidated by smart women.

The study, published in November's Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, found that while men like the idea of dating a smart woman, they don’t really want to do it in real life.

When researchers asked a group of men about hypothetically dating a woman who was smarter than they were, the men reacted positively and enthusiastically.

But when the hypothetical scenario turned into a real-life potential meeting with these smarter women, things changed.

Researchers found that the majority of men "distanced themselves more from her, tended to rate her as less attractive, and showed less desire to exchange contact information or plan a date with her."

According to the study, "feelings of diminished masculinity accounted for men’s decreased attraction toward women who outperformed them in the live interaction context."

Bottom line: Lots of men are threatened by smart women.
