MARIO CUOMO: Dead at 82

Mario Cuomo, the three-term New York State governor, died at home today (Thursday), just hours after his son Andrew was inaugurated for his second term. The liberal Democrat was 82.

Cuomo served as New York's first Italian-American governor from 1983 to 1994 and was twice considered a likely contender for a presidential campaign, but never actually sought the office.
