MANNY PACQUIAO: Will Have Surgery for Torn Rotator Cuff

It turns out Manny Pacquiao wasn't kidding about that injury to his right shoulder. The fighter will have surgery this week in Los Angeles to repair a torn rotator cuff, his manager told the Los Angeles Times on Monday.

Pacquiao's manager Michael Koncz said, "Manny and [his wife] Jinkee decided that in the best interests of his long-term health, he will have the surgery here this week."

The fighter first complained about a sore shoulder following a sparring session on April 4th. Two days later an examine revealed a tear below his rotator cuff.

Pacquiao rested his shoulder in pre-fight training and thought he'd be allowed to have an anti-inflammatory shot prior to his big fight Saturday with Floyd Mayweather Jr., but the Nevada State Athletic Commission denied that request prior to the bout.

During Saturday's fight, Pacquiao said he further injured his shoulder in the fourth round and on Sunday couldn't lift his arm, opting to keep it in a sling for much of the day.

Koncz said that the Pac-Man will likely need four-to-six months to recover. (Los Angeles Times)

Say What:

It's surprising that Pacquiao's handlers didn't get a definitive answer on the anti-inflammatory shot prior to Saturday's fight.

Will Manny still be able to count all his money with one arm in a sling?

If he was hurt, why didn't he try to postpone the fight?
