A Detroit man used a unique defense to explain why he should not be facing charges. The man performed a freestyle rap to explain his case in open court.

Detroit CBS affiliate reports that “Callius Moon is facing two felony charges: malicious destruction of fire or police property and resisting or obstructing a police officer.”

Moon was arraigned by District Judge John Chmura via CCTV video Tuesday in a Warren District courtroom from a city jail. As the judge explained the serious charges he faces, Moon began to plead his case with a freestyle rap.

He flowed poetic about people who were out to “put it on [him],” and portrayed himself as a victim. Judge Chmura cut Moon off mid-rap and told him “that’s good” and the “show’s over.”

Moon has requested a court-appointed attorney, according to Detroit.CBSlocal.com.
