LIL WAYNE: Janky Promoter Scams Alabama State University

There was no homecoming concert last night for Alabama State University students. Administrators were forced to cancel the annual event after being tricked by a janky promoter.

The school claims it was scammed by a man claiming he could book Lil Wayne. But Tuesday, just a day before the scheduled show, a post was made to Wayne’s Facebook page saying he would not be performing at the university.

His manager, Cortez Bryant, says, "It saddens me to say, but this concert is fraudulent. Wayne was never booked for this show. Graduating from an HBCU myself, I hate that one of ours schools was victimized. Fake promoters are the lowest of people on this earth because they are damaging the integrity of the artist and most important [hurting] the fans.”

Alabama State University plans to investigate and pursue litigation against the crook. Any students who purchased tickets are being offered full refunds.  (WSFA-TV) Talk About It:

The school’s media relations director mentioned a possible Missy Elliott performance, but there’s been no talk of that since.

Homecoming week is such a big deal -- it’s a shame these students are getting robbed of an experience their tuition helped pay for.

It was too short of notice to do much else. Maybe the school could let the students perform and just turn it into a talent show or open mic. Some people are just low.

Who knows -- maybe the promoter really thought he would be able to book Wayne only to find out he raised his rate, changed his number, or something else.

Have you ever attended a concert where the promoter lied about who was going to be there?
