He's known for rhyming "Go DJ", but that wasn't the case when Lil Wayne played a show at Nova Southeastern University Thursday night. Weezy stormed off stage 25 minutes into his set when his DJ screwed up a music cue.
In a video posted by a fan on Instagram, Wayne can be seen beginning to rap his popular freestyle to "CoCo" after the beat drops. But after just a couple seconds, he realizes the original is playing, not his version from January's Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape.
When Wayne heard O.T. Genasis's vocals, he lost it, staring at his DJ for a few seconds, then throwing his mic and storming off stage.
Fans were understandably disappointed and confused and took to social media to air their grievances:
So lil wayne performed at my school tonight and he left after 25 mins bc the DJ played the original CoCo and not his remix [tears emojs]
I don't understand how the Dj played Wayne's version of coco and switched over to OT genesis version like he can't be that dumb.
Guess this is the end of the concert. The DJ [eff'ed] up but it was still good.
Quickie:
He's not Weezy F. Baby for nothing. Throw a tantrum if you gotta, but the show must go on.
