Saturday was also the running of the 141st Kentucky Derby, which was won by American Pharaoh.
The three-year-old colt won the race in front of a record crowd of 170,513 at Churchill Downs with jockey Victor Espinoza racking up his third Kentucky Derby win, beating the second-place horse Firing Line by a length.
After the race, Espinoza who drove a bus in Mexico City before immigrating to the U.S. at age 17, said, "I feel like the luckiest Mexican in America...He's just an amazing horse. Today finally I let him run." (The Courier-Journal)
