New York Giants fans, first the bad news -- Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly had his right index finger amputated yesterday (Wednesday).
The good news -- that's not expected to be a major obstacle to his getting back on the field. One source says it will be "sooner than people think."
Pierre-Paul suffered burns and other injuries in a fireworks mishap in Florida on July 4th. In the wake of the accident, the Giants rescinded a $60 million contract offer -- although the defensive end was reportedly not going to sign it, anyway. If the two sides can't agree on a new deal by July 15th, JPP will play under a one-year deal for $14.5 million as a "franchise" player. (ESPN)
Say What:
$14.5 million as a consolation prize -- must be nice.
The Giants dealt with a similar issue when Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg a few years back.
He should thank his lucky stars he's not a wide receiver or quarterback.
