Remember when J. Cole got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Melissa Heholt? Well, it turns out they secretly took things a step further and got married without telling anyone.

Cole was outed as a married man during an interview conducted by Creed director Ryan Coogler at the #MLKnow event in New York City on Monday night. This confirmation puts to bed previous rumors that the two had called off their engagement. Cole’s reaction was pretty entertaining — he seemed equally surprised and flustered about Coogler accidentally spilling the beans.
