The Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP calls its decision to give disgraced Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling a Lifetime Achievement Award "unfortunate" and has abandoned the plan. The ceremony scheduled for May 15th will go on, but Sterling will not be honored at it.
"We are working on a new set of guidelines so there's greater scrutiny on who's selected for these awards," a spokesman for the organization tells TMZ Sports. "We need to have a better vetting process. It was an unfortunate selection."
Kenny Says: I've been saying this for YEARS. We need to re-evaluate the NAACP and it's current role in our community! It's too corporate and not leading on the Ground Level! This is what made the organization worthy. Now it's all expensive suits and Fancy Dinner Parties. At the very least it needs re-BRANDING!
