How's about the L.A. Chapter of the NAACP selected Donald Sterling for a Lifetime Achievement Award?

The Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP calls its decision to give disgraced Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling a Lifetime Achievement Award "unfortunate" and has abandoned the plan. The ceremony scheduled for May 15th will go on, but Sterling will not be honored at it.

"We are working on a new set of guidelines so there's greater scrutiny on who's selected for these awards," a spokesman for the organization tells TMZ Sports. "We need to have a better vetting process. It was an unfortunate selection."

  • @popcornreel "In some respects today's NAACP is an absolute disgrace. It PAINS me to say that but it's the TRUTH in my humblest of humbles.#DonaldSterling"
  • @marclamonthill "The NAACP knew full well that Sterling had been sued by the DOJ and Elgin Baylor. But that didn't matter. Money talks, poor Black ppl walk."
  • @mrdaveyd "This is the same Cali NAACP that backed Monsanto & is honoring Walmart, thats even worse then Sterling's remarks"

Kenny Says:  I've been saying this for YEARS.  We need to re-evaluate the NAACP and it's current role in our community!  It's too corporate and not leading on the Ground Level!  This is what made the organization worthy.  Now it's all expensive suits and Fancy Dinner Parties.  At the very least it needs re-BRANDING!
