DJ E-Z Rock, who along with Rob Base, scored a monster hit in 1988 with "It Takes Two," died Sunday, according to a spokesman for Base. He was 46. His cause of death hadn't been announced on Sunday night.
Born Rodney Bryce, E-Z Rock's first single with Base was 1986's "DJ Interview," but it was "It Take Two," which sampled a vocal line from Lyn Collins's 1972 hit "Think (About It)," which made them stars.
The song that mixed hip-hop with house music reached number-three on Billboard's Hot Dance/Club songs chart and was later sampled by a variety of artists, including Snoop Dogg, Gang Starr, Girl Talk and even South Korean girl group 2NE1. It was also included by Roots leader and Tonight Show band leaderQuestlove in the Top 50 Hip Hop Songs of All Time for Rolling Stone.
