Divorced: Do You Keep Your Ex's Last Name?

Last time we checked, Shawnie O'Neal and Kimora Lee Simmons were both divorced. But they're still going around with their exes' last names. Many women do it, but why?
Shaunie tells Necole Bitchie she didn't want to have to explain to their kids why Mommy doesn't have the same last name as them. Plus, she feels like she earned the name O'Neal.
Kimora recently told a Detroit radio station that she's keeping the last name because of her companies. It's a part of her brand, and she also believes that she's worked hard for her name."

Kenny Asks:
  • What reason would you consider to be valid for keeping the last name of someone you're no longer married to?
  • How do you "earn" a last name? What do you think Shaunie and Kimora meant by that?
  • Are you no longer married but still use your married name? Explain.
  • What does it say about a woman's self-worth if she keeps her ex-husband's name?

WHY GET MARRIED ?!! I GUESS MAYBE THIS IS WHY WOMEN THINK THEIR MORE MAN THEN MEN. BECAUSE OF THERE ( SELF WORTH?)  SO WHOM EVER ARE COMING UP WITH THESE STUPID QUESTIONS .ASK THIS ONE , WHAT ARE YOUR WOMAN WORTH?  I'M GOOD ENOUGH FOR HIM TO MARRY THEN I'M GOOD ENOUGH TO HAVE HIS NAME. IN OR OUT

I THINK THEY ARE KEEPING THE LAST NAME BECAUSE THEY CAN'T REALLY LET GO , I THINK THEY SHOULD BE PROUD OR THEIR OWN NAME AND USED IT. I WAS MARRIED TWICE AND I NEVER CHANGE MY NAME BECAUSE MY LAST NAME IS FOX AND I AM VERY PROUD AND I KNOW MY SELF WORTH SO I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO CHANGE MY NAME. YOU DON'T EARN A NAME U TAKE A NAME OR YOU ARE GIVEN A NAME AT BIRTH.

The only valid reason to me to keep an ex's name is if you want to. Legally you have a choice. Not sure how you earn it  but maybe they feel because of the things they went through they deserve it for status. I believe self worth is not measured by a name rather by how you feel about your self. Hoorah for those who keep the name and hoorah for those that get rid of it.
