Designer Michael Kors is Now Selling 3inch Heels for Girls as Young as Six

High-end designers like Michael Kors are now making heels for little girls, and parents are buying them.

After Suri Cruise was seen wearing a pair of gold, low-heeled shoes for the first time three years ago, it seems heels for little girls outside the dress-up box are becoming increasingly popular.

Now Michael Kors, just one designer making heels for tiny tots, is selling three-inch wedges that could easily be seen on any urban teenager.

While the shoes are advertised as being for toddlers and youth, the size chart correlates to girls aged between six and ten years old.

However Michael Kors isn't the only label marketing heels to young girls.

Target currently sells espadrilles with 2.25 inch heel to kindergarten-aged girls, which are found under the 'trendy' section of its website for $20.
Jessica Simpson Kids and Kenneth Cole Kids also sell heels for young girls, slightly lower at just under two inches.
Interestingly, many mothers with small feet are buying the shoes for themselves, as well as their daughters, who aspire to look like their well-heeled mums.

One young reviewer of the Michael Kors three-inch wedge wrote in the comments: 'These shoes are so cute. Unfortunately my mom said that I cannot get them as I am not allowed to wear heels.'
Suri Cruise has been pictured a number of times in public with heels and lipstick in what her mother, Katie Holmes, claims is just a harmless dress-up game.

However, health experts warn the shoes can damage feet and posture.
Sammy Margo of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy said putting a child into even slightly higher shoes shortens muscles in the calf while lengthening others.

The high heels are also part of a raft of products said to be sexualising young girls, including a first make-up kit for girls of five and T-shirts for toddlers emblazoned with 'Future footballer's wife'.
Katie Holmes has defended her daughter's outfits. She told a U.S. TV show: 'Like every little girl, she loves my high heels.
They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them.'
