CHRISETTE MICHELE: Major Regrets After Inauguration

Michele says agreeing to perform for President Trump had major consequences. She says the decision even caused her loved ones to turn their backs. 

Chrisette tells Billboard that she spoke to an event organizer and said point blank, “My family has disowned me… If you decide to Google me, you’ll see that America is writing about me in their newspapers. I'm the black poster child for discord right now and he’s not going to shake my hand? So no, I didn’t get to meet him.”

• The decision to perform also cost her a chance to get music used in Spike Lee’s upcoming Do The Right Thing Netflix series.

• Michele's team also claims that they tried to charge her "usual rate of $250,000" but was told the Inauguration Committee didn't have the budget and she would have to play at a discount.
