The controversy over possibly racist mascots isn't limited to the NFL's Washington Redskins. At Southern California's Coachella Valley High School, their campus mascot for the last 82 years has been the Arab, and now they're under fire from the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.
The civil rights group recently wrote a littler to the school's district headquarters saying "in the 21st Century, such justifications for these actions are no longer tolerable." They're asking that the mascot "be eliminated, along with imagery and terminology associated with it."
The school uses a giant foam-headed Arab mascot at sports games and features a belly dancer in its dance routines.
