BIRDMAN: Questions Raised Concerning Oil Company

Cash Money C-E-O Bryan "Birdman" Williams' alleged Bronald oil company -- which has grabbed a bunch of recent headlines -- may not actually exist. Some issues:

  • Bronald doesn't have a listed telephone number. Numbers for residences in New Orleans and Florida that are linked to Bronald in state records don't take incoming calls.
  • The "technical staff" area of the company's website says "to come."
  • Regulators that handle oil and gas permits and operator licenses in Texas and Louisiana don't have records of Bronald's existence.
  • Secretary of State offices in Texas and Florida don't have records of Bronald's existence, either.

A publicist for Williams and his partner and brother Ronald tells Bloomberg.com she's unable to provide information about the company.

If the Williams brothers do have plans to enter the oil business, they aren't likely to be met with the welcome wagon. In a recent letter to clients, Houston investment bank Tudor Pickering Holt and Company quipped, "Doctors and dentists investing in oil wells was sign of top in 1980s. [Are] rappers the sign this cycle [is over]?"
