Focused On Urban Issues, Nightlife, & Kenny Smoov
As expected, it was all about Kendrick Lamar at last night's pre-recorded telecast of the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Not only did the L.A .rapper take home five awards to lead the pack, but his performance was also the talk of the night. Hosted by Uncle Snoop, the awards show was short on actual awards -- only a handful were given out on air -- and seemed to focus around live performances and pre-recorded sessions.
The most talked about cypher was TDE's, which not only featured Kendrick taking a shot at Drake, but also seemed to feature AbSoul throwing a not too subtle jab at Jay Z. On the other end of the spectrum, the Real Husbands of Hollywood cypher lead by Kevin Hart and Nick Cannon stuck a much lighter note.
The show also featured a reunion of Bone Thugs N' Harmony and a tribute to MC Lyte.
