ANTHRAX: Military Lab Mistakenly Ships Samples to Nine States

Pentagon officials admitted on Wednesday that samples of anthrax were mistakenly mailed to nine different states in the U.S.

According to Pentagon spokesman Colonel Steven Warren, the shipments containing samples of live anthrax originated from the Dugway Proving Ground in Dugway, Utah.

Warren said, "The Department of Defense is collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in their investigation."

The samples were sent to government and commercial labs in California, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin, but Warren added that the general public is not a risk and no lab workers have been infected from exposure. (USA Today)

Say Whaaat:

This is a pretty huge and scary mistake.

Anthrax is no joke. In 2001, after 9/11, letters containing anthrax killed five people and infected 17 others.

The CDC is investigating this incident.
