And the first person fired over social media 2016 is.........

The first moron has already been fired for an idiotic social media post this year.  And the confetti hadn't even landed when it happened.

The New Year's Eve ball in Times Square has its own Twitter account.  Because of course it does.  But on its highest profile night, it suddenly turned RACIST.

At 7:47 P.M. on New Year's Eve, the account tweeted "#BallLivesMatter."  That's a play on the #BlackLivesMatter movement.  People called them out for being insensitive, so they deleted the tweet.

But at 10:43 P.M., the account tweeted, quote, "The ball this year has become racist due to the dismal state of our economy in 2015."

The people who run the Times Square ball drop issued a statement afterward saying, quote, "The tweet was unacceptable and indefensible . . . the person responsible was an independent freelancer and will not be engaged again."
