Ohio native John Legend was back in his homestate this week, drumming up support for President Barack Obama.
On Thursday afternoon he visited the University of Toledo, where he joined students at a special voter registration drive. Later, he was headed to Cincinnati to celebrate the opening of a new campaign office.
During a brief stop at the Obama headquarters in downtown Lima, Ohio, on Thursday, John thanked volunteers for their efforts, according to LimaOhio.com. "We still have to keep working and keep fighting so that all the progress we have made over the last few years doesn’t get reversed and repealed and taken away," John said, according to the website.
John also shared a bit about his background, talking about his father, who was an auto manufacturing plant worker, reports LimaOhio.com. "I am very familiar with the importance of manufacturing jobs and the auto industry in this state, and it is just one more reason why I am supporting President Barack Obama for re-election," John said.
John has been a longtime supporter of the Obama Administration. Later this year, he'll perform at an event centered on the Democratic National Convention, according to LimaOhio.com.
