This teacher guide for Foundation and Intermediate Phase is divided into two parts: • Part A: Nutrition Information to answer your nutrition questions (in particular information about the nutrition components of the Life Skills and Life Orientation curriculum) • Part B: Teaching nutrition in the Life Skills curriculum -Ask teachers to nominate a 'Nutrition Rep' from each classroom. Parenteral nutrition (PN) gives your body nutrients when you are not able to eat or cannot absorb nutrition from the food you eat. PN is given through an IV catheter (thin tube) placed in a vein in your arm, upper chest, or neck. PN provides you with water, protein, sugar, fats, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes.
