Is 5'8" - 132 lbs. too FAT? According to HOOTERS it is!!

A 20-year-old Hooters waitress in Roseville, Michigan has been told to lose weight or possibly lose her job, WDIV reports. Cassandra Smith got the news in her otherwise favorable evaluation last week. Her superiors complemented her on her attitude and customer-service skills, but in the uniform evaluation portion, the women told her she needed improvement. The women offered Smith -- who is five-feet, eight-inches tall and weighs 132 pounds -- a free gym membership, and told her she had 30 days to improve or she would possibly lose her job.

Hooters denied the allegations, but said it does have an "image standard." The company's statement read, in part, "We will not make any comment on a current employee except to say that no employee in Michigan has been counseled about their weight. However, we will say that our practice of upholding an image standard based on appearance, attitude and fitness for Hooters girls is both legal and fair. It is not unlike the standard used by the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders or the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes." CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO

Their establishment...their rules. The same way you have weight requirements to be in the military or to begin the police academy (granted many officers let themselves go after completing the academy) or you have policies where businesses won't allow pink hair or lip piercings. The company maintains the right to present their product and staff in the way that they feel fit. I'm with Hooter's on this one...if she doesn't like the policy she can just as easily find a new job, or better yet start her own restaurant.
