The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2011 inductees this week, and LL Cool J didn't make the cut. Neither did The Beastie Boys. Though they were the only hip-hop acts nominated this year, there are plenty of other deserving, eligible artists. Here are just a few from the worlds of R&B and hip-hop.
Freddie Jackson
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam
Suzanne Vega
2 Live Crew
The Fat Boys
Sade
Sheila E
Anita Baker
Johnny Gill
New Edition
Ice-T
Kenny ASKS:
Which of the artists on the list, including LL and The Beastie Boys, do you think should voted in first?
Who should been the first five Hip Hop artists inducted?
This is LL's second year of eligibility -- why do you think he hasn't made it in with Run-DMC and Grandmaster
Comment
from the list: BEASTIE, 2 LIVE, SHEILA E, ANITA AND SADE.
1st five Hip Hop : SUGAR HILL, AFRIKA, GRANDMASTER AND FURIOUS 5, FRANKIE SMITH, DMC (all of these guy because the influence they each had on hip hop ).
I am not really sure what the eligibility requirements are but I think LL has not made it in yet because his career as an artist is still in ACTIVATED status. I know he has not had a hit record but every year for the last 10 years he has played in at least one movie. It probably has nothing to do with that though , it is probably some politics that we don't understand. I do think when it is his time all of the albums and movies he has under his belt will make him a great Hall of Famer.
Anita Baker, New Edition, Freddie Jackson, 2 Live Crew & LL Cool J. I feel the older R&B artists paved the way.
