Yahoo Finance in typo tweet: 'Trump wants a much n----r navy'

A social media administrator at Yahoo Finance needs a copy editor — badly.

The news site's Twitter account shared an inconspicuous news story Thursday evening about President-elect Donald Trump wanting to expand the U.S. navy  — but a misplaced "n" in the tweet's caption turned the whole thing on its head in a disastrous manner.

"Trump wants a much n----r navy: Here's how much it'll cost," the cringeworthy caption read.

The misspelled tweet stayed live on the account for at least 20 minutes, garnering an unusually high number of retweets and comments dripping with bitter sarcasm.

"Hey @YahooFinance, I think you have a typo somewhere in here," Philip Lewis tweeted in response.

Yahoo later issued an apology for the slur.

"We deleted an earlier tweet due to a spelling error," the site said. "We apologize for the mistake."
