Remembering Heavy D...Man, I Miss Hip Hop So MUCH!

Today...as I reflect on the loss of Heavy D as many of you are, I realize how much I miss Hip Hop!

Back when rappers SMILED!  None of the rappers smile today. Everything is so damn serious...

I miss the days when there was a co-existence of all kinds of Hip Hop.  From Positive Black to Gangster, Dance/Party, "Start The Revolution", Booty Shake, and most importantly...LOVE!

Is love not Gangsta enough for these cats now?  Listen, LOVE will never go out of style...only your fake paper chasing, money wasting, cocaine clocking, block-locking, King Trapper, Hoe-Slapper, weak rapper ass won't be remember...But Heavy D...

We'll all remember him. Smiling.  Talking about love.  Trying to stop the Self-Destruction.  In a video with Michael Jackson or setting off "In Living Color".  Acting in a movie or doing a commercial...Damn - Heavy D did it all...with a smile!

He never was arrested with Guns in his car or weed in the trunk.  Never made a song about "Beating a B*tch Down" or pants hanging off his waist cause his "pistol heavy"!

I guess Hip Hop is too rich now.  No going back.  I think sometimes how I even help create this damn monster (albeit, a small piece...but nonetheless, I didn't try to stop it either).

But at least we got our memories...and Heavy D, you'll always be remembered as one of the best to ever do it!

Hev was the man, I still remember him on "Living Single" always hugging everybody and smiling.  Shouts out to DJ Freeze for the Self-Destruction verse...Amazing lyrics, even today

Before there was BIG, there was BIG DADDY!

Aiyyo here's the situation: Idiodicy
Nonsense, violence, not a good policy
Therefore we must ignore, fightin and fussin
Hev' is at the door so there'll be no bum-rushin
Let's get it together or we'll be fallin apart
I heard a brother shot another. It broke my heart
I don't understand the difficulty, people
Love your brother, treat him as an equal
They call us animals mmm mmm I don't agree with them
I'll prove them wrong, but right is what you're proving them
Take heed before I lead to what I'm saying
Or we'll all be on our knees, praying.......

Heavy D- Self Destruction

R.I.P. Hev!

@Kenny Smoov- Church! Not to mention, as a MC, could hold his own (and did) with the best of them. He had one of (if not) the hottest 16 in "Self Destruction". Showed his versatility on "Don't Curse". Paid homage to his heritage on "Nuttin' But Love" (Reggae Remix). Gave the love to the Queens on "Black Coffee". Brought two Hip Hop legends while they were alive on their ONLY recorded song together (2Pac & Notorious BIG)- "Let's Get It On". And let the world know that "The Overweight Lover Is In The House. I loved this dude and there will never be another like him. I'll be digging the crates for my man as soon as I get off today. R.I.P.
