Young Jeezy lucked out today (Thursday) in Orange County, California when a felony weapon charge against him was dropped due to lack of evidence.

Back in August, Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, and five other individuals were arrested during an investigation for the death of a man who was shot backstage at a concert Jeezy had co-headlined with Wiz Khalifa days earlier. After presenting a search warrant, authorities found an AK-47 at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine.

Jeezy and the five others, who included a tour bus driver and his wife, all pleaded not guilty to a single count of felony possession of an assault weapon. No one was identified as a suspect in the killing.

The Atlanta rapper didn't attend today's hearing but said, “I’m relieved that the truth has ultimately prevailed, and I would like to thank those who have always stood by me, including my family and fans.”

Jeezy’s attorney said she was pleased the case was dropped but said the rapper shouldn't have been arrested or charged in the first place.
