Wow! If Only This Was A Law 3 years ago!

In wake of George Zimmerman's deadly shooting of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, the city of Sanford, Florida, plans to no longer allow volunteer Neighborhood Watch members to carry guns.

According to Sanford Police Department spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly, the no-gun policy was requested by the city's Police Chief Cecil Smith to help keep the neighborhoods safer. Cordingly added, "We never encouraged people to carry guns."

The new policy will be officially announced at a community meeting on Tuesday at City Hall, where volunteers will be registered and formally trained. Zimmerman was acquitted of Martin's murder less than four months ago.
