RANGER SCHOOL: Two Women Complete Army's Toughest Training

Two women have accomplished what no others have done before. The Army announced Monday that the pair completed the elite Ranger school, which is considered one of the toughest combat training programs in existence.

The two female soldiers were identified only as West Point-trained offers. They'll be part of the class of 96 soldiers set to graduate as Rangers Friday at Fort Benning, Georgia.

When the course began on April 20th, there were 400 candidates, 19 of them women, but as the weeks progressed more than three-quarters of the prospects fell by the wayside, unable to cope with the hardcore regimen that includes limited food and sleep and intense physical tests while carrying a 60-pound rucksack.

Reacting to the first two women graduates, Army Secretary John McHugh said, "This course has proven that every soldier, regardless of gender, can achieve his or her full potential."

Say Whaaaat:

If those women can pass that test, they're ready for almost anything they might encounter.

This is just another sign that the military is evolving in a good way.

Expect to hear the full stories on the women once their identities are revealed.
