Wes Craven, the legendary horror director whose credits included the Scream movies and A Nightmare on Elm Street, died Sunday in his L.A. home of brain cancer. He was 76.
His first movie was The Last House on the Left, which he wrote, directed an edited, in 1972. But it was 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street that launched him to horror stardom. He also directed all four Scream movies.
He recently signed a deal to develop his 1991 movie The People Under the Stairs as a TV series. He was also executive producing the Scream TV series that recently launched on MTV. (Variety)
