US Track Star Dies

25 year old Torrin Lawrence died on a Georgia highway this morning. A tractor trailer hit Lawrence's car that was parked with a flat tire. The county sheriff does not know exactly where the runner was in relation to the car at the time of impact but “he was caught up in the accident.”

Torrin Lawrence ran in the 4x400m relay heats at the International Association of Athletics Federation World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, on May 24. The U.S. went on to win the event, and Lawrence earned a gold medal.

He finished ninth in the 400m at the U.S. Outdoor Championships on June 27.
