If you're a fan of Twinkies, you may want to stock up. Hostess Brands, the makers of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, is preparing to file for bankruptcy, according to sources familiar with the company's finances.
This isn't the first time the company has hit the skids financially. In 2004, Hostess began and four-year run in bankruptcy, and they've been struggling since coming out of the bankruptcy proceeding in early 2009.
The Irving, Texas-based company employs about 19,000 people and has been struggling due to high labor costs and the rising cost of sugar and flour.
Nearly 36 million packages of Twinkies were sold last year, an almost two-percent drop from the previous year, and the company has been having even more problems with their bread products, as consumers move from white bread to healthier whole grains.
